Deborah Kneen is a decorative artist who specialises in old houses, animals and flowers. The historic buildings, cottage gardens and rural landscapes of Braidwood are a great source of inspiration. Deborah also has an interest in painted furniture traditions, reinterpreting historical techniques using modern materials. After graduating from the University of Sydney, Deborah was a high school teacher for many years, She has taught decorative painting workshops in Australia, New Zealand and the UK, as well as in France (under the auspices of the Association Française de Peinture Décorative sur Bois). Deborah has written or co-authored 12 books on decorative arts and crafts, including ‘The Art of Teaching Craft’ (Sally Milner Publishing) and ‘The Painted Bouquet’ series (with Christine Whipper). She has contributed articles to many art and lifestyle publications and was a contributing editor of ‘Folk Art and Decorative Painting’ magazine for 8 years. She was a craft presenter on Foxtel’s Lifestyle Channel in its inaugural year. She has also designed gift wrapping papers. Her work has been included in group exhibitions at two public galleries:
