| Lucinda Boyd Lucinda Boyd is a self-taught artist who was born in England in 1954. Her parents, David and Hermia Boyd encouraged their children to paint and draw from an early age and gave helpful advice on technique and use of various media. She studied life-drawing, etching and later hand-wrought jewellery making. Lucinda began working with pastels after moving from Sydney to the Hunter Valley in 1983. This move gave her the first opportunity to observe the Australian bush for any length of time. She produced a series of landscapes and in 1985 held her first solo exhibition at the Von Bertouch Galleries in Newcastle. Lucinda has continued to work principally with pastels, a medium she feels best suits her interpretation of the mood of the Australian landscape. In 1997 she moved to Reidsdale, a location on the south-eastern fall of the Southern Tablelands where the quality of the light and the colours of the surrounding bush have been the inspiration for her recent work. Lucinda Boyd's work is held in private and corporate collections across Australia as well as in the United Kingdom, France and the USA. |
