Merilyn Simmons

Merrilyn Simmons is a singer, songwriter, performer and community music leader. She has produced two albums of her own original music, and her work is included on many compilations.

She has also facilitated songwriting projects and singing sessions at schools, crisis centres, festivals prisons and refuges.

Most recently she has produced and supported the songwriting for a community CD called Love Sings, which has emerged from one such group, “Inannarama”.

Current projects including leading two community singing groups Acapalerang and Inannarama, as well as singing with Madrigala, and setting others words to music.

“The major focus of my music these days is the encouragment of others to reconnect to their own sense of music, through singing and the creation of songs. I believe music making is a fundamental human experience and participation can connect and enliven us.”
