In November each year, the historic town of Braidwood becomes a
mecca for quilters and tourists alike as it hosts its Quilt Event
and the famous "Airing of the Quilts", a self funded festival
organised by the Braidwood Quilters Inc. Braidwood becomes a stage
displaying the beauty of the art of quilting through a two day
indoor exhibition and the quilts displayed in the open air or shop
windows throughout Wallace street.
The Quilt Event is a self-funded festival organised annually since
1995 by the Braidwood Quilters Inc. Many volunteers, both members
and non-members, give their time and energy to support this
Community Project. The Airing of the Quilts is an
opportunity for Braidwood residents and visitors to enjoy the beauty
of the art of quilting at no charge, while the two-day indoor
exhibition is open to the public for a very reasonable entry fee.
